Legal protection

Stand up for your rights, without fearing the costs.

A dispute with an employer, a landlord, a garage or after a road accident: good legal protection insurance gives you access to legal experts and covers the costs of proceedings.

Why it matters

Very real situations.

Situation

Your employer dismisses you unfairly.

Consequence

Without legal protection, lawyers' fees can quickly exceed what you hope to obtain.

Situation

Your landlord refuses to return your rent deposit.

Consequence

A tenancy dispute is often settled through negotiation — but you still need to know your rights and how to assert them.

Situation

After a road accident, the other party disputes liability.

Consequence

Road traffic legal protection defends your interests and covers the cost of expert reports.

Points to watch

The mistakes we see most often.

  • 01

    The waiting period

Most policies have a waiting period after they are taken out, and a dispute whose cause predates the policy is not covered. It is best to get insured before you need it.

  • 02

    Excluded areas

Construction, family law, inheritance or disputes related to investments are often excluded or limited: we check that the areas that matter to you are included.

  • 03

A sum insured that is too low

Proceedings that go all the way to court can be expensive: the sum insured per dispute must be sufficient, in Switzerland as well as abroad.

  • 04

    Misunderstanding the insurer's role

During the negotiation phase, it is often the insurer's legal department that handles the case; when proceedings become necessary, you can in principle choose your own lawyer.
